Welcome to our brand-new campus!

Dear Parents, Guardians, Staff, Students, and all Community Stakeholders,

I am writing to welcome you to our vibrant and dynamic learning community! As the proud principal of Orlando Science Charter Schools newest campus, I am thrilled to extend my warmest greetings to each and every one of you. Our brand-new campus stands as a testament to our collective commitment to excellence as a system. Whether you’re a returning member of our educational family or joining us for the first time, I am confident that this year will be filled with exciting opportunities, growth, and meaningful connections.

A bit about me is I am a Florida native, born and raised. My career for the last twenty years has been solely in education. I hold a bachelor’s degree with a major in elementary education and a master’s degree specializing in educational leadership, both obtained from Florida Atlantic University. I hold a range of certifications and endorsements such as exceptional student education (ESE), gifted education, ESOL endorsement, TESOL certified, instructional coaching credentialed, elementary education certified, leadership certified, and both reading endorsed and certified. I have had the opportunity to lead schools at both the campus level and even from district level positions. Ultimately, it is with these experiences that I look forward to leading our community now as your principal. As an instructional leader I will always be a teacher at heart, and I pride myself on being visible and energetic. When I am not on campus, I enjoy being with my own family, exploring the outdoors, traveling, and am always on the hunt for the next best restaurant to try.

For our campus this year the heart of our educational philosophy is the well-being of our learning community and the support of one another. Our theme this year will focus on “Be A Marigold.” Many experienced gardeners follow a concept called companion planting: placing certain vegetables and plants near each other to improve growth for one or both plants. For example, rose growers plant garlic near their roses because it repels bugs and prevents fungal diseases. Among companion plants, the marigold is one of the best: If you plant a marigold beside most any garden vegetable, that vegetable will grow big, strong, and healthy, protected and encouraged by its marigold. Using our theme, we look forward to building strong bonds and support across the campus and within our school community. Together, we’ll achieve greatness and I look forward to collaborating, celebrating achievements, and supporting one another.

As we embark on this exciting journey of a new school year, I invite you to dream big, explore fearlessly, and embrace the joy of learning. Our school isn’t just a place—it’s a second home where memories are made, friendships blossom, and futures take shape.

Thank you for entrusting us and let’s make this year unforgettable!

With enthusiasm and anticipation,

Mr. Salgado

Principal
